Target Optical and Target stores are going mad for plaid this Fall!

The “Plaid, Plaid World” promotion launched on September 27 in all Target stores, featuring plaid patterns on everything from apparel to home goods to pet accessories, groceries, and, of course, glasses!

To get into the tartan tizzy, Target Optical has married best-selling frame shapes from its Mossimo Men’s and Women’s collections with re-imagined plaid patterns on the temples. Designed by the Product Development team, the new styles offer a variety of colors and patterns that range from traditional and updated to bold and understated – it’s a fresh, fun fashion statement at an affordable $99.

“Plaid is both timeless and trendy,” said Kristen Bonfield, Director, Target Optical Buying. “There’s something that every generation loves about the pattern, whether it evokes that back-to-school feeling or if you’re looking to mix and match patterns to make a fresh, funky fashion statement.”

This marks the first time that the Target host has invited Target Optical to collaborate on a trend story and promotion. The close collaboration with the host was born out of the success of Andrew Andrew last year. “The way we showcased this hero brand and exceeded plan got the host’s attention,” said Bonfield. “Our goal with the plaid campaign is to drive more Target guests to Target Optical so they can top off their plaid picks with a new pair of frames.”

In Target host stores, the plaid takeover will feature the limited-edition Adam Lippes at Target collection with more than 50 men’s and women’s items adorned in the designer’s interpretation of buffalo plaid (think large red and black check). Guests will also find plaid on unexpected items such as paper towels, Coke bottles, diapers and Fitbits.

The Plaid, Plaid World promotion runs from September 27 – October 31 and will include storefront, in-store, email, and online marketing. Target and Target Optical websites will feature a special landing page with aspirational storytelling and fashion tips.
