Our Mentoring Program Makes a Difference!
Last week, we attended the 2014 National Mentoring Summit to receive an award for the Luxottica Mentoring Program. The National Mentoring Partnership and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) recognized our mentoring program as the “Most Robust and Comprehensive Local Youth Mentoring Program.” This was a humbling honor, and is exciting for what it means for all young people—that quality mentoring initiatives are being championed, nationwide.
“We’re committed to helping the world see,” said Carlo Privitera, Chief Operating Officer of Luxottica North America and mentor program participant. “Through our Student Mentoring Program, we’re enabling students to see a brighter future by interacting with our professional team members who are invested in the students’ high school and long-term success. We’re honored that our employees’ passion for mentoring is being recognized.”
The associates who attended the recognition in Washington, DC to accept the award for the program had a great time and enjoyed being a part of such a compelling summit.
“I’ve been involved in the Luxottica Mentoring Program as a mentor and recently as a steering committee member, so being present during the 2014 National Mentoring Summit was one of the prouder moments for me,” Sears Optical Marketing Director Andrew Hofmann said. “It was truly an honor to be there and celebrate with my peers and other advocates who share a commitment towards mentoring.”
